The WCOOP is back

This September the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is coming back to Poker Stars.net. The WCOOP is the worlds largest online poker series, and this year it is bigger than ever. Doubling last years prize pool, the 2008 WCCOP will offer a prize pool of $30,000,000 guaranteed.

Starting September 5th and ending with the main event on September 22nd, the WCOOP will host 33 different events and a wide range of poker games. Although tournaments don’t official start until the fifth, Poker Stars players can try to earn their spots in WCOOP qualifying satellites. Cash qualifiers start at as low as $2.20, and players using FPP can enter a satellite for as low as 100 Frequent Player Points.

Negreanu and Greenstein in Top Three for POY

Poker Star’s pros Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein are currently second and third on the World Series of Poker player of the year chart. Daniel Negreanu is in second with 170 points, 15 points behind leader Eick Lindgren, with one braclet and 4 cashes. Just below him Barry Greenstein has 165 points with one braclet and 3 cashes. Together the two players have combined for a total of $769,001 WSOP earnings.

Poker Stars Turbo Takedown Freeroll

Poker Stars has announced that they will be running a $1 million dollar turbo takedown tournament on the last Sunday of every month! The tournament is unique in that 1 in 3 players will get a cash prize. To play in the tournament players will need to buy-in using 5000 Frequent Player Points.

If you don’t have 5000 fpp’s to spare you can play in satellites running daily for as little as 10 fpp credits. The tournament can be found in the Events > Special tab in the poker stars lobby. Also in that tab you will be able to register for satellites to the turbo takedown.

The winner of the tournament will receive a $100k while second takes $60k and third $40k and so on. The tournament pays up to 4,000th place and that pays $90 bucks (sweet!). This is probably the best freeroll tournament you can play. Although, you will need to have played some real money poker at poker stars it is definitely worth it. You can easily get 10 fpp’s in about 10 minutes of poker play and you will be able to enter a satellite tournament to this $1 million dollar tournament.

Multi-Table Tournament Leaderboard

Poker Stars is now offering free rewards for players who perform well in multi-table tournament events. Tournament Leader Board (TLB) points are offered for every level of buy-ins, but the larger the buy-in the more TLB points you can earn. New winners are awarded each week, month, and year.

To become the weekly winner you have to record 10 good multi-table finishes between 12:00am on Sunday and 11:59pm on Saturday. The poker player with the most (TLB) points at the end of the week will be given the chance to play heads up for a minimum of $1000 against a Poker Stars pro at the game of his/her choice. If the Poker Stars pro wins, the prize money from that match will carry and be added to the next weeks match.

The top 200 poker players from the Monthly leader board will split up a pot of $30,000, with first place winning $5000. Along with that prize money, the top 1000 players will win a seat at a $20,000 freeroll. For the poker pros, the Yearly Leader Board Winner first prize is a five-stamp passport that includes hotel accommodation’s and buy-ins to five major Poker Stars hosted events.

Poker Stars Battle of the Planets

Poker Stars has launched a new sit and go promotion called “Battle of the Planets”. This marks the first time Poker Stars.net will have a SNG Tournament Leader board. Players can participate in the Battle of the Planets with buy-ins as low as $2 dollars or if your a big money player up to $500.

There are 8 different “planetary” divisions for the SNG Leader board…In english that means there are eight leader boards players can compete in with prizes from $3k-$10k.

There is never peace between planets and war is all part of the game. Poker Stars will have players from the top ten spots of each division in a $50k triple shootout. So what are you waiting for? Battle of the Planets? SNG? It’s time to play at Poker Stars!.

PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT)

Starting May 3rd poker players and fans can look forward to the first ever LAPT event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Hoping to repeat the success of the European Poker Tour and Asian Pacific Poker Tour, the LAPT will bring major poker tournaments to Latin America. The first season of the LAPT will offer the largest tournaments ever to take place in the area.

Poker Stars 2008 WSOP Satellites

Poker Stars.net has just announced their 2008 WSOP satellites and qualifiers for players looking to win a seat to the 2008 WSOP main event. Satellites are already underway and will be played up until late June. Pstars winners will receive the $10k buy-in and $2.5k spending cash. Players will also get 8 days of hotel stay at Palms Hotel and Casino with free shuttle service and cash bonuses if players make the final table. ($50k for a regular event up to $1 million for the main event…you do have to agree to wear poker stars gear).

There are currently three ways to qualify at Poker Stars.net. You can buy-in to satellites via FPP points. You can buy-in to cash qualifiers and lastly you can win your seat with the steps sit and go’s. Poker stars will be sending over 100+ players to the WSOP main event!

EPT 3 more events untill Monte Carlo

The EPT(European Poker Tour) still has three more events until the grand final in Monte Carlo, Monaco on April 12-17. The next upcoming event, the Scandinavian Open, gets kicked off today in Copenhagen, Denmark. The buy-in for the event is 50,000 and can it can be watched live on EPTLive.com.

460 players chipped in to create the biggest poker prize pool in Scandinavian history. The large buy-in and nearly €3 million prize pool has attracted some big names to the event. The pros coming from pokerstars.net include Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Katja Thater, Tom McEvoy, Bill Chen, Noah Boeken, Luca Pagano and Dario Minieri.
